Juniors

Botanic was named Youth Club of the Year 2010 by the Irish Hockey Association. This is due to the dedication and commitment of over 15 coaches and helpers on a regular basis, under the fantastic leadership of Una McTiernan. The junior section has grown from strength to strength and hopefully will continue to do so over the coming year.

Last year was a particularly successful year for Botanic Juniors as the under 14s won the title of Leinster champions in March and the under 16s came first in their league. Here’s hoping for an even more successful season this year!

Club’s Children’s Officer & Designated Person

Una McTiernan is the Club’s Children Officer

The Club Children’s Officer is responsible for ensuring the club implements the Code
of Ethics and Good Practice within the club. The Club Children’s Officer will
manage all activities and issues in relation to young people at club level, ensuring that
there is a link between the adults and children in the club.

Miriam Horan is the Designated person

The role of the Designated Person is to report all child protection concerns to the
statutory authorities.

If anyone has any issues in relation to our younger members of the club or child
protection, please contact the relevant person above.

Access to the pitch is via the new gate on the Old Finglas Road (opposite Cremore Avenue). Carparking facilities are available in addition to our club’s pavillion.

Matches against other clubs are usually arranged for Sunday mornings. Some of these games will be at home at the pitch in Glasnevin, while others will be away. Parents are welcome at all games, both as supporters and/or drivers!

Cost

The cost for the season is €100 (Oct – Apr).

Extras

In addition to coaching and matches we organise an annual tournament every September for senior and junior players. We also have our annual Chrismas party, complete with Santa and presents. On completing the season each child will receive a certificate of merit.

Sticks and Equipment

Botanic provide sticks and balls etc, however each child MUST have suitable runners/trainers, tracksuit/leisurewear. We recommend that children wear shinguards and gumshields.
